Well to be happy you have to be boring shorn is saying? lol hes telling us why he is being boring in that right?...

Nah i think the moral of the quote is tolerance in all things, if you are happy you will soon be disappointed, if you a sad you have something to look forward too make you happy then you will be disappointed again... A viscous cycle. To be happy just don't give a fark like a giant tree.

I like the interpretation Davey.
All I think he is saying is that shit will always happen to you, no matter who or where you are.
The only way to be happy amongst it all is not to let it bother you, or just brush over you slightly, like a giant tree in the presence of a storm.
